Hi, I'm Joris
See what I love to do and maybe read some of my blogs.
What I do
Where my passion lies
🏗️
Software engineer
Building great software that is pragmatic, not over-engineered, but is well-scalable when the need arises: That is what I love to do.
🎸
Bass player
I currently play in Soulid, a soul and funk cover band.
👌
Team leadership
I am a certified trainer and have experience in coaching teams performing better by understanding each other, communicating better and having a lot of fun in the process.
About me
I love to interact with people, to learn from them and to help them grow. I am a listener, a builder, forward mover.
Born in 1982, from a family of hard workers, I have always tried to be a hard worker myself. After finishing my study in 2004, I started working as a software engineer. My perspective shifted after spending years in the business — I found myself drawn to understanding the human side of software development. That's when I came in contact with Hermonde, where I first pursued my own personal leadership development before transitioning into coaching individuals and teams.
I started playing electric guitar at age 15 and started playing bass guitar two years later. I continued both in countless bands. Eventually I just focused on holding the low end of the groove on bass guitar and double bass.
I live in Noordwijkerhout with Lilian and our two kids. 🥰

Three Million Twenty-Four Thousand Seconds
A story about my experiences in a 60-day Vipassana meditation retreat in Nepal.

From Bennekom to Lumbini
In a week, it is happening. I am going to Lumbini in Nepal to be silent for 60 days and meditate. The idea arose a year and a half ago during a personal leadership training.
